Cole Harbour Old Timers Hockey

Draft

Players must enter their name before the draft.

Players may put in a preferred team, but there is no guarantee they will be drafted by that team.

If a player choses not to play for the team that drafted them, They are not eligible to play in the league for 1year, and must enter the draft again to play.

Draft order will be based on previous years regular season standing. The order will remain the same each round.

If a team doesn’t need to draft, they will be skipped.

If a team wants to add a player after the draft, it must go a league vote.

The Draft will take place on the Saturday the week before the start of the season.

If a team rep is not available for the draft, they can appoint someone from their team to draft their players.

Rosters

Each team will be required to submit a team roster before the start of the regular season

Each team is responsible to ensure game sheet is up to date.

Players must be 40 years of age by December 31

Teams must have a minimum of 14 Full time players to a maximum of 17.

Spares

A pool of spares will be created that any team can pull from during the regular season.

Spares will not be permitted during playoffs.

Rules

Governed by Hockey NS unless otherwise stated here.

Games are 2 periods each 25-minute stop time.

No Icing until last 5 min of game.

Teams must dress a minimum of 6 skaters and 1 goalie.

No slap shots – Stick may not rise above the knee. If a slap shot is called, the face off will be in the offending teams zone.

All penalties will result in a face off in the offending team’s defensive zone.

3 minor penalties will result in an ejection from the game. A double minor counts as 2 penalties.

1 major penalty will result in an ejection from the game.

Match/Intent to injure/Gross/ Abuse of Official/ Fighting

    -first offence will be 5 game suspension

    -Second offence will be 10 game suspension

    -Third offence will be a full 1-year suspension.

The league has the right to impose a lifetime suspension and adjust suspensions based on a player’s history and the gravity of the situation.

If a player uses his stick to make contact or attempt to make contact with the puck over their shoulders a 2-minute minor penalty will be given.

No timeouts during regular season.

   -each team will have 1, 30 second timeout per game during playoffs.

If the puck hits the goalie in the face mask and goes directly into the net it will be counted as a goal. If the puck makes contact with anything else it will be blown dead.
